Looking Back on a Rockstar Year
If I had to sum up 2025 in one word, it would be ROCKSTAR. ⭐️
Not because everything went perfectly—but because this season reminded me how powerful it feels to chase goals that stretch you beyond comfort.
This year has gone beyond my wildest expectations. I didn’t hit every Rockstar Goal on my list, but I’ve achieved more than I imagined—both as an athlete and as a coach.
My proudest personal moment? Crossing the finish line at Ironman Lake Placid in the daylight—with a two-hour PR compared to the same course ten years ago. That finish line wasn’t just about speed; it was about growth, belief, and proof that when experience meets perseverance, incredible things happen.
The Lessons Hidden in the Lows
Even though Lake Placid was a highlight, the journey wasn’t all smooth. There were dark moments on the run—those miles where the mental battles hit harder than the physical ones.
But those struggles became my teachers. They’ve reshaped how I’m approaching IRONMAN Texas, shifting my focus toward strengthening not just my body, but my headspace. I’m learning that the real test on race day isn’t how fast you can go—it’s how strong your mindset stays when the demons show up.
This year, I’ve given myself permission to slow down when my plan calls for it. To walk in Zone 2, to recover when needed, and to trust that the magic happens when I respect the process.
Because progress doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from doing the right work with patience and purpose.
The Courage to Reach
This season, I’ve witnessed courage in so many forms.
From athletes finishing their very first triathlon, to others achieving long-awaited PRs, completing their first 70.3, or returning to racing after time away—it’s been a reminder that anyone can set goals, but it takes real courage to chase them.
Every finish line told a story of perseverance, growth, and heart. Those moments have reinforced what I believe most deeply: the finish line isn’t the goal—it’s the celebration of everything it took to get there.
Reflecting on Your Season
Before you rush into next year’s goals, take a breath. Reflection is one of the most powerful tools we have—not for judgment, but for growth.
Here are a few questions I use myself and share with my athletes each December:
- 🏆 What made you proud this year?
Big or small, name it—and let yourself feel that pride. - 💭 What challenged you the most?
Those moments shaped you. What did they teach you? - 🔁 What do you want to carry forward?
A mindset shift, a new routine, or a hard-earned lesson. - 🧭 Where can you improve?
Be honest, but kind. Curiosity builds consistency. - 💫 How will you celebrate yourself more next year?
Because let’s face it—adults don’t celebrate themselves enough. Especially women. It’s time to change that.
The 3 Goals Philosophy—15 Years Later
I’ve been using the 3 Goals Method for more than 15 years now, and this season has deepened my belief in it even more.
Watching athletes use this approach to find something to be proud of in every race—even when the day didn’t go as planned—reminds me why I started using it in the first place.
The 3 Goals framework isn’t just about performance—it’s about being proud. It’s about removing the fear of failure and replacing it with gratitude for growth.
Because when you approach training and racing with Grace, Grit, and Goals, you always win—no matter what the clock says.
Looking Ahead to 2026
I’m heading into 2026 with high expectations and a full heart.
Personally, I’m chasing a podium at the Long Course Aquabike World Championships in Abu Dhabi.
Professionally, my goal is to help at least ten athletes reach their own Rockstar Goals—whatever those look like for them.
This year has proven to me that your story isn’t defined by perfection—it’s defined by perseverance.
Your Turn: Reflect, Recharge, and Reach Higher
Before you close the chapter on 2025, take time to reflect. Be proud of the miles, the lessons, the grit, and the growth.
Then, look ahead—dream big, set your 3 Goals, and remind yourself that you don’t have to be perfect to be proud.
If you’re ready to make 2026 your Rockstar season, it starts with a plan built for you.
